Frequently Asked Questions...
Q. When does the PTA meet?
A. The Burr Elementary PTA Executive Board generally meets on the second Tuesday of each month at 2pm or 7pm (alternating) at the school - everyone is invited. General PTA meetings take place throughout the year. Check the PTA calendar for specific dates and topics.
Q. How much does it cost to join the PTA?
A. A family membership, consisting of two adults, costs $13. Please find our Membership on the "Out PTA". Print, fill in fields, and send check payable to "Burr Elementary School PTA" to the front office in an envelope labelled "PTA Membership."
Q. If I join the PTA must I volunteer?
A. No. It is your choice whether to become involved or not. Although we are always looking for volunteers, you are free to choose if or when you would like to help.
Q. Do I need to be a PTA member to attend a PTA meeting?
A. No. Anyone can attend a General Membership meeting, but only members can vote. Check the PTA Calendar and The Burr Buzz for the next meeting. Younger siblings are welcomed.
Q. How can I get more involved at Burr?
A. The Burr PTA strives for 100% participation. That simply means, we hope that every parent will feel welcomed to get involved! We have volunteer opportunities that require as little as 1 hour to as much as several hours/week. You can volunteer from home or at school. Please check out the tab "PTA Volunteers" for a list of our many committees. Contact either the chair listed, one of our Volunteer Coordinators, or sign up at Tears n Cheers or Open House (sheets located on the big green bulletin board.)
Q. What is the Burr Buzz?
A. The Burr PTA provides paperless communication to all who have provided us with a valid email address. The Burr Buzz is the PTA's weekly electronic newsletter communicating pertinent school, PTA and community information.
Q. Where can I get a list of student addresses and phone numbers?
A. The Burr Elementary PTA publishes an online directory. Only those students whose parents give prior approval are included. Printed copies will be made available for an additional fee.
