WINTER SESSION 2026

• The winter session will begin the week of (Wednesday) January 21
• Morning classes will be 7:45am – 8:45am (students will be dismissed to classrooms)
• Afternoon classes will be 3:40pm-4:40pm (students will be picked up outside the gym doors)
• Registration will be available on the Burr PTA website from Monday, January 12 (9:00am) through Friday, January 16 (5:00pm), and you will receive an email confirmation if you successfully enrolled
• There will not be refunds offered for missed classes due to student illness or other absence
• You must be a member of the Burr PTA to register for After the Bell
• Please remember to update Dismissal Manager on the days your child will be attending After the Bell

Paint studio is a fun, hands-on club where kids paint different projects like ceramics, paint-by-numbers, and more. Students get to relax, be creative, and try new painting activities each week. No experience needed—just come ready to paint and have fun!

KIDS BAKING CHAMPIONSHIP with Miss Caruso (4 week session)

Get ready to bake in the teachers lounge! It's time for us to mix ingredients, bake, learn about baking supplies, decorate and...EAT! While students wait for their item to bake, they can make and enjoy yummy treats like the famous rainbow popcorn. Bakers will make a variety of sweet treats ranging from funfetti cookies, brownies, cupcakes, and more. New every week! Once they are done, they will submit it to the ‘judge’. Students will compete to use all their creative juices to win the trophy of the day…and eat their final product!

 

STEAM ADVENTURES with Mrs. MacKenzie and Mrs. Salemme (4 week session)

From coding robots and designing circuits to building marble mazes and engineering to program LEGO designs, every week brings a brand-new creative challenge. Hook & Loom Lab is a fun and welcoming space where kids learn to create using crochet hooks and looms. Members will practice basic stitches, explore colorful yarns, and make projects they can be proud of. No experience is needed—just creativity and curiosity!

Get ready for nonstop action! Students will play exciting rounds of dodgeball along with fast-paced dipping and diving games that build agility, teamwork, and sportsmanship—all while having a blast after school!

Its time to make beautiful artwork using both air dray and kiln fired clay. Students will construct their own clay masterpieces and then use glazes to add color. All projects will be picked up the following week after they have fired in the kiln!

Each week we'll prepare, make, and eat delicious breakfasts like waffles, croissants, cinnamon buns and more! Start your day off right with Ms. C and the other busy breakfast baker bees!

SEW AWESOME 1 - POCKET PILLOW, STUFFIE KEYCHAIN AND MORE! with Miss Kurimai (7 week session, additional class date 3/4)

In this SEVEN WEEK course, your child will learn the basics of sewing. Some basics include sewing a secure stitch, sewing on buttons, and learning different types of hand stitches. They will also have an introduction to a sewing machine! Students will use these skills to create many projects including felt keychains, an initial door hanging project with homemade pom-poms, plushie characters and a fabric pillow project just to name a few! Join us for this highly creative and informative class. It’s going to be…Sew Awesome!

 

HOOP ACADEMY with Miss Sherwood (6 week session)

The K-5 Hoop Academy is an exciting after-school program taught by Ms. Sherwood, a college-level basketball player, who brings her expertise and passion for the game to young athletes. The program focuses on developing essential basketball skills such as dribbling, shooting, passing, and teamwork. We will have 2 scrimmages every week, split up by younger and older students. Through engaging drills, friendly games, and positive reinforcement, kids will improve their basketball abilities while building confidence, physical fitness, and sportsmanship. Whether they are new to the game or looking to enhance their skills, the K-5 Hoop Academy offers a great opportunity for children to learn, grow, and enjoy the sport of basketball.

 

SLIME SCIENCE with Mrs. Birtwell (6 week session)

Get ready for a hands-on, ooey-gooey time in Slime Science that kids will love! Students will explore different slime recipes, colors, textures, and fun mix-ins while learning simple science concepts along the way. Each session encourages creativity, problem solving, collaboration, and FUN! Best of all, kids will create their own slime masterpieces that are messy in the best way at school—so you don’t have to do it at home!

COOL CRAFTS QUILLING: JEWELRY, SNOW GLOBES AND VALENTINES! with Miss Kurimai (5 week session)

What is quilling anyway? Quilling is the art of rolled, shaped, and glued paper that results in creating a unified, decorative design and has been around for centuries. In this FIVE WEEK course, we will be creating “cool” jewelry designs with your own ELECTRIC quillers, a winter snowglobe scene, and Valentine surprises! At the end of the class, all students will be taking home their own quilling kit for continued creative fun at home! Join us for this “cool” or should I say, “quill” time!

 

KICKBALL with Miss Sherwood (5 week session)
